How to Make:

  • Create the honey-ginger syrup: Add equal parts honey and water to a saucepan, placing it on low heat. Then add a fresh slice of ginger and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Mix the cocktail: Strain and cool the liquid, then add 50 ml of blended scotch, 20 ml of honey-ginger syrup, and 20 ml of lemon juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Strain and serve: Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass, adding fresh ice. Pour the islay malt on top for a touch of smokiness. 

2. Blood and Sand

The name may be intimidating, but we promise you’ll love it! This popular Scotch whisky cocktail got its name from its vibrant red and orange hue, inspired by the 1992 silent film Blood and Sand.

This is the perfect drink for a summer afternoon with friends, with its citrusy flavours and tropical appearance. 

How to Make:

  • Prepare shaker: Add ice cubes to your cocktail shaker. Then, add 25 ml of blended or light single-malt Scotch whisky, 25 ml of cherry brandy, 25 ml of sweet vermouth, and 25 ml of orange juice. Aim for around 25 ml of each.
  • Shake it up: Shake for 20-30 seconds until all of the ingredients are mixed and chilled.
  • Strain and serve: Pour the mixture into a martini glass or chilled coupe, add orange peel or a cherry on top, and serve.

3. Rusty Nail

How to Make:

  • Prepare the glass: Add ice cubes to a rocks glass.
  • Add the ingredients: Pour 45 ml of blended or single-malt Scotch whisky over the ice. Then, add 25 ml of Drambuie on top. 
  • Stir and garnish: Stir gently and add a twist of lemon peel on top.
