IMPERIAL 1990 AGED 23 YEARS

A rare Imperial single malt, drawn from just a single oak cask - the purest form of single malt - at the full cask strength of 58.4%. Distilled from 1990 to 2014 (23 years) and from a very limited edition of just 216 700ml bottles.

Mackillop's Choice whiskies are bottled in a traditional manner at natural cask strength, without adding colouring or flavouring to preserve all the natural oils, fats and enzymes that combine to give the quality of the nose, palate, mouth-feel and finish.

OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES
Nose: A rich butterscotch sweetness, some exotic fruits (lychee), plus vanilla.
Palate: Full, rich, sweet and waxy with some vanilla.
Finish: Finishes full, rich & spicy.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
With a history of twists and turns, Imperial distillery has been dormant for over 60% of the time since its formation in 1897 - most recently it ceased production in 1998 and is one of three 'silent' distilleries of the current owner (Pernod Ricard) along with Glen Keith & Caperdonich.

Accordingly, single malts from Imperial are increasingly hard to find and have appeal to whisky collectors who foresee investment value in the purchase of Imperial single malt due to the increased rarity.

The distillery still stands, in Carron in Speyside.
