ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
The Glenburgie distillery was established in 1810 and was originally known as Kilnflat, with production starting in 1829, the distillery closed in 1870, but reopened as Glenburgie in 1878.
Since the 1930s rebuilding and upgrading has taken place and in 1958 Lomond Stills were introduced producing the single malt Glencraig until 1981 when the Lomond Stills were replaced by conventional stills. The original distillery was knocked down in 2003 and a purpose built distillery was built, most of the equipment is new but four stills, the mill and boiler were brought from the old distillery. The stills were increased to six in 2006.
Most of the production is filled into Bourbon casks and matured in four dunnage, two racked and two palletised warehouses. The majority of Glenburgie is used in blends, with single malt bottlings being rare and usually from independent bottlers.
