AUCHENTOSHAN AGED 18 YEARS
Single Cask, Single Malt
Lowland Scotch Whisky
From a single Hogshead cask of just a 258 700ml bottles, this Auchentoshan Single Malt was bottled by independent family Scotch whisky blender and bottler Hunter Laing under their 'Old Malt Cask' range of premium single cask single malts.
It was distilled using an almost unique practice of triple distillation to create a very light whisky.
This Auchentoshan was bottled in a traditional manner as part of the Old Malt Cask range of limited editions, naturally (with no added colour and without chill-filtering the whisky) and at a premium strength.
OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES
Nose: Vanilla fudge with milk chocolate and honey.
Palate: Crème brûlée with sweet rhubarb and oak.
Finish: Long and dry with a hint of nuts.
ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Auchentoshan is a one of few the surviving Lowland malts and its malt is almost unique in being created by ‘triple distillation’, a practice common amongst Lowland distilleries. Sadly, other revered Lowland distilleries such as St Magdalene (also known as Linlithgow distillery) and Rosebank are now closed.
Auchentoshan is situated to the north of Glasgow, where it has stood since the early 1800’s and draws it’s water from the Kilpatrick Hills.
The distillery was badly damaged by a bombing raid in 1941 and was not fully restored until 1948.
